What went wrong?

Jack was humming his favorite song while cleaning his lawn, 3 gunshots broke his concentration, leaving him aghast.

Anna doing dishes and gunshots scared her so much that two dishes, which were in her hands hit the floor and rest was history.

Kasey was busy with her online violin classes when gunshots shattered her rhythm.

Scott was identifying stocks to buy, on his laptop when he heard the shots.

All of them rushed out with countless questions on their faces.

Jack, “guys have you heard the gunshots?”

“Yes, I heard three of them and I guess they were fired at Charlie’s place,” said Anna.

Sobbing Kasey, “I am really worried, I hope my bandmate Sally is OK. Please, shall we go and check?”

“Yes, we must go and check, if everything is alright,” said Jack.

All of them rushed to house # 308 C, where Charlie stays with his wife Susana and daughter Sally. They rang the doorbell, knocked at the door called on their phone and cell phones, but all in vain.

All the doors and windows were locked, phones were ringing but no response.

“We must call the authorities,” suggested Scott, punching numbers on his cell phone.

Within a few minutes, two officers from state petrol were standing in front of house # 308 C.

The officers also tried their best to get the door opened, but without any success.

Finally, the officers decided to break in into the house.

As soon as the authorities entered the house the witnessed a very horrifying scene.

Charlie, Susana, and Shally all lying dead in the living room.

As soon as the news spread out Kasey broke into tears and Anna somehow managed to control her.

Scott and Jack were also not in very good shape.

After completing initial formalities the bodies were sent for post-mortem and terms got busy with a further detailed investigation of the scene of the incident.

No suicide note or any such evidence was found which can help the authorities to reach on to any concrete conclusions.

In their preliminary investigation authorities reached on to the conclusion that Charlie shot his wife and daughter and then killed himself.

May whys were floating in the air. Why Charlie did this? Why he had to kill his wife and daughter? Why did a happy family meet with such a tragic end? Why a Highly educated person like Charlie took such a drastic measure? Why he had to kill his lovely and bright daughter? Why he killed his loving wife? Why Susana and Shally agreed to get killed?

Unfortunately at this juncture, there were only questions and only questions with no answers.

Soon the authorities received the autopsy and medical investigation/examination reports stating the following facts:

a) The first to die was Susana, followed by Shally, and last to die was Charlie.

b) No struggle or scuffle before death.

c) Susana and Shally were shot from point-blank range with the same pistol with which Charlie killed himself.

In the meantime police established that there was no sign of forced entry in the house as well as no sign of robbery or any other type of crime at 308 C.

Authorities tried to drill down further to find out the reasons responsible for this unfortunate event.

They started to look at the financials of the family, their travel records, past criminal records, interrogation of friends, colleagues, etc.

Who was Charlie?

Charlie was a very brilliant boy, he always scored 100% in Science.

Got selected for top engineering college of the country and passed out with flying colors. Went to the World’s leading University for an MBA. Upon completion of his MBA, got a high paying job in the country of dreams and settled there. Married a beautiful girl, named Susana. Bought a 5 room big house and luxury cars. Susana and Charlie were blessed with a bright and beautiful daughter Shally.

He had everything that makes him successful.

Then what happened? What was the reason why the family meets with such a drastic and abrupt end?

WHAT WENT WRONG?

An Institute of Clinical Psychology Studied his case and found “what went wrong?”

The researcher met Charlie and his families’ friends, colleges, and other aquatints and found that he lost his job due to an economic crisis and he had to sit without a job for a long time.

The researchers also came to know that Charlie finds it very difficult to digest failures or setbacks.

Susana was also very passionate about her goals and objectives. She always tries her best to meet them and never ever let anything come between herself and her goals.

Shally was no different from her parents. On one occasion when she scored poorly in her assessments, she took almost 2 weeks of time to get over with it and tell her parents about her poor performance.

One thing which was common in all three of them was, whenever they encounter any setback or failure they all sunk into their cells. They cut off themselves from the rest of the world and confined themselves to their own world. They find it difficult to admit their failures or setbacks, talking to people about this. They all were harsh on themselves if something does not go as planned. They will virtually beat themselves black and blue for any failure or setback.

Even reducing his previous salary amount, Charlie didn't get any job.

Then his house installment broke and he was on the verge of losing his home.

Bills were getting piled up, expenses getting through the roof with no source of income.

Calls from banks, credit card companies, utility companies - all asking to clear the outstanding amounts to avoid penalties, further changes, and some even talking about legal actions.

They survived a few months with less money and a few weeks with almost no money.

On a fateful day, Charlie and his wife together decided to commit suicide.

Charlie first shot his wife and daughter and then shot himself.

The researchers concluded that the man (family) was:

Programmed for success but were not trained for handling failures.

A sad story.

Unidirectional thought process - a weak mind - a mind trained for success - a mind always looking at the brighter side of the picture - a mind having blind spots for failure or setbacks.

First of all, remember that if you have achieved everything, there is a chance to lose everything, nobody knows when the next economic crisis will hit the world. When things can go wrong?

It is really very sad to see that the more we are getting technologically advance the more volatile the world is becoming. Job security, economic stability, geopolitical stability and constant growth are words of history. The times to come are very unpredictable and uncertain.

The best success habit is getting trained for handling failures.

Please do not get programed to be successful but learn how to handle failures and also learn proper lessons about life.

Learning high-level science and maths will help us to clear competitive exams but only knowledge about life will help us to face every problem.

Let us learn about how money works instead of learning to work for money.

Help yourself finding your passion because these degrees will not help you in the next economic crisis and you don’t know when the next crisis will hit the world.

*"Success is a lousy teacher. Failure teaches you more."*
