Is China Hiding Something?

We all are aware of the current situation, our planet is going through. We all are virtually under house arrest. People are losing their sources of earning, students losing on their studies, mega-events planned years before getting canceled, the world economy as a whole going towards another depression, and what not?

Amid these tough time a question about which most of us are wondering – Is China Hiding Something?

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that whatever we are facing today is an accident or natural calamity then, it gets established beyond doubt that – Yes, China is definitely hiding something from the world for sure.

Below are some data points, which makes me believe so:

1. Population wise China is number 1 in the world, but today countries like Spain (30)*, UK (21)*, Italy (23)* have surpassed China in terms of the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infected cases.

2. China ranks 144 in terms of World ranking in health index as compared to USA (37)#, Spain (7)#, UK(18)# have a much lesser percentage of recovery, whereas China has the highest recovery percentage in world – 94.31%

3. Amid news coming from different sources that a vaccine for COVID-19, may not be available in the near future, but still China very confidently opening up its cities for all sorts of economic activities.

d 4. As per the news of 17^th May 2020, wearing the mask in public is also not mandatory in the capital city of China – Beijing.

As shared above countries with lesser populations have more confirmed infected cases, whereas China has more population, combined with the fact that when the virus was spreading it was time for Georgian New year as well as the Chinese new year, still most of China remained virus-free. Wuhan, an industrial hub, people working there must be traveling to their native places during the festive season. Something worth noting and not easy to digest.

Despite having a ranking of 144 in World Health Index, have a whopping 94.31% recovery rate and moreover in last 13 days (between 5^th of May to 18^th of May) only 73 new cases were reported and only 1 death during the same period, these numbers are no were even close to the world average numbers.

Let’s assume, this is an epidemic or a catastrophe with no known vaccine or cure and like rest of the world China also used hit and trial methods to find a cure, then has it shared the most effective way they have identified to cure the infected ones.

When the rest of the world is still not sure how the virus will impact or react in the coming days and taking every possible caution to minimize the impact, come out of lockdown and establish normalcy, China is opening up its cities and towns as if some holiday season is over.

China has even declared that wearing a mask in public is not necessary in its capital city – Beijing.

It really triggers this question, what gives China this confidence?

When world stock markets were touching new lows, Chinese stock markets were almost immune to this shockwave.

When almost all the big cities of the world were under lockdown or cribbing due to COVID-19, major Chinese cities were very normal.

Though they locked down Wuhan for roughly 80 days and then lifted it to return to normalcy.

There was news that the number of deaths reported is inaccurate and the basis for this news was the huge number of sim cards going inactive in China in Q1’2020.

Putting all this together, we can safely assume that China is not coming out with the complete truth or this is a bigger game plan, where China is the face, supported by other big players like technology and Pharmaceutical giants or for that matter even some governments.

By when this all will be over and how will it leave our world, only time can tell. Till then we can only pray to god and take all the possible precautions to be safe.
